When evey someone does something that says "This is the first plank that will build a bridge" there is always some one there to tear it down". Now Darcy and Sherwin had the vision to set up this website so that we can be connected where ever in the world we are who gives one the right to step on their professionalism or the level of their ability! you are out of order sis. lets contribute by sharing not tearing
love

Jaunita.....To Suggest that we @plaisanceonline had something to do with those "FALL BACK" remarks are  Absolutely False, Further more you are in no way or form right to Judge our PROFESSIONALISM because you don't know us as Individuals. But nevertheless we applaud your criticisms  about our site and we will work to Improve this site, It takes hard work and committment to run this site so instead of going back and forth we should all come up with Ideas to Help and Improve Our Village, So with that being  said we thank you for supporting Plaisanceonline and we hope you  continue to do so.

Oct 30 2009 10:57 am
Ms.P we are not part of the Plaisance Committee. We are independent thinkers, whose aim is promote and highlight activities as it pertains to Plaisance.
Ms.P several persons were pretty reluctant that night about having their picture taken for a variety of reasons.I prefer not to get into any specifics as to why.

Next years you guys can walk with your digital cameras and help us.

WE ARE NOT IN ANYWAY AFFILIATED WITH THE PLAISANCE COMMITTEE.........THANKS

Oct 29 2009 07:51 pm

Greetings,
I spent a brief (but memorable) time in Plaisance village (1997/1998) and can only imagine how much it has changed since then.   I stayed in the back dam, which I now understand to be very different from the front of Plaisance Village.   During my visit, the people of the back dam were very welcoming and personable.   I will never forget them.   I am from the Caribbean, but Guyana and its people will always stand out in my mind.   I was exposed to the lifestyles of pork knockers, different cultural traditions such as Que Que and other folklore.   When I was there I remember being called a dogla and having an argument with a local because he said I should be proud to be a dogla (lol). Obviously I was not used to all the different ethnic labels, having been called balck all my life. I also learned how to cook in Guyana! (hehe) and now that is all I cook.   I remember taking a ride in a speed boat up to Berbice, swimming in red water, blacka hole and all the slang (lol). It is such a beautiful and mystical country.   I hope that the country can recover from the lawlessness, as Guyana is one of the few gems left in this world.
One love Plaisance

I'm surprised that no one has commented on the case of the school girl stabbing her step dad to death. It's a very very sad situation and there are many lessons to be learned. The ones that come to the top of my head are, parents, whether biological or step should approach scolding children in a alternative ways. It should not come to blows, especially in the cases of men beating girls. It teaches the young woman to accept blows from the men in her life should she end up with violent one/ones.

Another lesson to be learned from this is, when biological parents introduce their new partners into their childrens' lives, there must be some boundaries set with how far the line of authority should extend. NO WOMAN should give any man the OK to beat her children. Even if he is the sole breadwinner of the family. Providing for a child does not equal to control of their lives.

I'm sure that if we would sit and consider this situation more, we can find a whole host of other lessons to guide us in raising our own children.

Now, what the young lady did was in no way right, or the correct thing to do, but I've grown up hearing that provocation leads to murder. This is a perfect example.

I hope she is rehabilitated in some way, but not thrown into a prison with hardened criminals that can only lead to her becoming lie them. Casting her whole life to doom will not help the situation. Let us all keep her and the situation in our prayers.

God bless, Secota

Stepfather stabbing…Schoolgirl charged with murder
By Stabroek staff | April 25, 2009 in Local News

Two days after she allegedly stabbed her stepfather to death during a row at their Plaisance home, a 17-year-old schoolgirl appeared at the Vigilance Magistrate’s Court yesterday charged with murder.

Abiki Ferguson of Lot 78 Victoria Street, Plaisance, East Coast Demerara was not required to plead to the capital offence when it was read to her by Magistrate Sherdel Isaacs-Marcus. She was subsequently remanded to prison.
It is alleged that she murdered Glendon Scipio, 54, on Wednesday night.

During the brief court hearing, Ferguson was represented by attorney-at-law Gregory Gaskin while Assistant Superintendent of Police Edmond Cooper appeared on behalf of the state.

The matter continues at the Sparendaam Magistrate’s Court on May 7.
Reports were that Ferguson was at a neighbour’s house helping a child with homework then left to go home in order to prepare to go to church.
The deceased, who was at home alone, reportedly prevented the girl from entering the house.

A heated argument ensued in the yard, during which Scipio allegedly dealt his stepdaughter several punches to her face. The young woman is alleged to have picked up a piece of wood and hit the man in retaliation.

The man, neighbours said, then hit the girl again, after which she ran upstairs and returned with a knife.   The argument continued, during which the young woman stabbed Scipio in his chest.   According to residents, someone tried to intervene but this proved futile.

Neighbours said Scipio and his stepdaughter were regularly involved in heated arguments

A post-mortem examination performed at the Georgetown Hospital mortuary by Dr Nehaul Singh yesterday revealed that the man died from a stab wound to the heart.

Plaisance man stabbed to death Stepdaughter in custody
By Stabroek staff | April 23, 2009 in Local News

A Plaisance resident was stabbed to death yesterday following an altercation with his stepdaughter. Dead is fifty-four-year-old Glendon Scipio of 78 Victoria Road, Plaisance.

Details of the incident remain sketchy but reports are that the man was stabbed by his 17-year-old stepdaughter during an altercation just after 6 pm last evening.

According to reports, the stepdaughter was at a neighbour’s helping a child with homework when she left to go home in order to prepare to go to church.

Stabroek News understands that the man, who was home alone up to that time, may have prevented the girl from entering the house.
A heated argument ensued in the yard, during which Scipio allegedly dealt his stepdaughter several punches to her face. Reports are that the young woman picked up a piece of wood and hit the man in retaliation.

The man, neighbours said, then hit the girl again, after which she ran upstairs and returned soon after with a knife.   The man, from all appearances was preparing to have a bath since he was wrapped in his towel alone, residents said.

Neighbours said the girl returned armed with a knife and the argument continued during which the young woman stabbed Scipio to his chest.   According to residents, someone tried to intervene but this proved futile.

Following the incident the man was rushed to the Georgetown Public Hospital where he later succumbed to his injuries. According to hospital sources, the man was stabbed in the region of his heart.

Neighbours said that the two persons were regularly involved in heated arguments.   Some said that the man, who was reportedly employed as a security guard, was generally abusive to his stepdaughter and would regularly insult her publicly.
Residents opined that the situation was perhaps aggravated since only three persons lived in the house- Scipio, his stepdaughter and his reputed wife.

The suspect was in police custody up to press time.

A smile is a curved line that sets things straight.

Let your smiles begin way down, deep inside.
Life is a mirror:
if you frown at it,
it frowns back ;
if you smile,
it returns the greeting.

A smile is the light
in the window of your face
that tells people that.
your heart is at home.

Keep up the good works
