In the 1950s, Plaisance had an abundance of tradesmen - carpenters, cabinet makers, gutter smiths, teachers and headmasters. There were a few small cottage industries, three bakeries, three coconut factories producing oil and copra, one factory making mattress from coconut fiber, several shops selling groceries, cake shops and stores which sold cloth and accessories.
The PLaisance Development Committee USA - Gives Back
The Plaisance Development Committee USA based continues Give back generously to Plaisance and its environs. They have contributed on very short notice to the Plaisance Dorcas Club Education Programme for 2009 where Financial Assistance was provided so as to ensure that the Organization honour its commitment to provide school supplies to over sixty children.
The Plaisance Methodist Church was also beneficiaries of assistance from the Committee. Mr. Noel Campbell was on hand and presented on behalf of the committee In the photograph are Mrs. Murtlene Dennis and Mrs. Van-Cooten received on behalf of the Methodist Church And Mrs. Beryl Adams-Haynes, Ms. June Halley and Mr. Rodwel Lewis on behalf of the Dorcas Club, Also some of the Children who benefited
